Geography and climate in Ribera del Duero

Ribera del Duero is a renowned Spanish wine, created in the rocky and sunny landscape of northern Castilla y León (provinces of Burgos and part of Valladolid, Soria and Segovia). With its harsh climate of dry summer days, complex soil and clay soils, ideal conditions are created for growing red grapes of extraordinary quality. This region produces some of the most celebrated wines in Spain, praised by winegrowers and winemakers from all over the world.

What is Ribera del Duero wine like?

Ribera del Duero wine is famous for its queen grape variety, Tempranillo. This variety gives the finished bottles a lovely fruity flavor, a good body and structure and a great depth of aromas. But that's not all, grapes from this region are often used in other varieties, such as Garnacha, Graciano, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which bring tantalizing nuances and add complexity, structure and an exceptional result to the wine.

Ribera del Duero wines are a truly extraordinary product of the land. The Ribera del Duero appellation is famous for its full-bodied, structured wines with great acidity and firm tannins. With layers of complexity and perfect balance, these full-bodied reds feature deep colors with intense aromas that open up flavors reminiscent of red and black fruits, spice and oak. In addition, their acidity provides structure for aging, allowing them to develop even more character over time.

Ribera del Duero is known for its great tradition in the production of crianza and reserve red wines. Crianza wines spend between 2 and 3 years in barrels and bottle before being marketed, while reserve wines spend at least 4 years in oak barrels and bottle before being marketed.

Ribera del Duero wines are ideal to accompany red meat dishes and stews. They are also very good with cured cheeses and dishes with sauces.
